KINGSTON, Jamaica — The North-East Regional Health Authority is advising the public to avoid purchasing or consuming coconut water, sorrel juice and other juices labelled “Portland's Best” and bottled at “Long Bay, Portland” as the Portland Health Department has found these products to be unsafe for consumption.

In a release a short while ago the authority said that the Portland health department has carried out a series of inspections at the processing establishment as well as testing of the products and has found breaches that could compromise the health of the public.

It said the health department subsequently took the enforcement action by closing the establishment.

Additionally, the public is reminded to purchase and consume food products from only approved establishments (those certified by the Public Health Department).

For further information, please contact the Portland Health Department, at 9932873/9932557.
