ARE you looking for a vehicle that merges luxury, comfort, speed while making a bold statement?

Well, enter the 2019 BMW 530i: it does double duty as a comfortable luxury sedan and an adrenaline-pumping sports car.

Externally, the 530i resembles the smaller 3 series that never skipped a day of gym. It's bigger with sharp chiselled body lines all around creating a characterful appearance. Even from outside, the interior quality shines, especially when optioned with the cream leather that literally sparkles through the windows. The leather is liberally applied to any surface that isn't otherwise covered with glossy piano black or metal trim. Drop into it and the driving position is infinitely adjustable for any occupant. Reach down for the adjustment buttons and the vehicle pre-empts users with an on-screen representation. Once the perfect spot is found, it can be saved into memory. For relaxation, there are three speeds for the several massage functions in the seat menu for total relaxation while operating the BMW 530i. Throw in the night ambient lighting and the sunroof, behind the wheel of the BMW can be a very pleasant place.

And relaxation it is, as the cabin is quiet under all-conditions except SPORT mode. The other two, ECO-PRO and COMFORT, show off the flexibility of the 2-litre TwinPower Turbo motor. Set the major functions to AUTO, like brakes, wipers, the automatically dimming headlights and the 530i wafts along ignoring all but the biggest imperfections on the road. This gives occupants the ability to enjoy the wonderful stereo system run by the iDrive system and its multitude of control and connectivity options. Touch, spin, press, scroll, write, speak, to access any device connected via USB or Bluetooth.

While all that may lower the blood pressure, things get exciting once the SPORT button is engaged. This is where the 5 series betters its rivals, providing driving thrills from its creation and the 530i follows that tradition. With 248bhp on tap, the car can hit 60mph in six seconds on to a top speed of 155mph. High speed stability is effortless allowing the miles to pass as if the vehicle was still in COMFORT mode. When the road gets twisty the 530i is no slouch either as the car just seems to shrink, wrap itself around the driver when the dynamics of the athletic chassis come into play. There is just the right amount of feedback and control. The sport inclined can easily get into a good rhythm as the engine and eight-speed transmission have no problem keeping up with faster demands.

Just as a luxury sedan, the 530i hits all the marks as quality materials, technology and design, the usual BMW hallmarks, are aplenty inside and out. The true heart of the 5 series is its ability to entertain the driver willing to be taken by the scruff of its neck and push to its performance limits.
