Digital media and marketing solutions leader Yello Media, has announced plans to become a major player in Jamaica's tourism industry through the forging of strategic new partnerships with key players in the sector.

The Yello Media Group, which boasts that it connects people and businesses in neighbourhoods across the Caribbean through its properties and services, in a release on Monday noted that Jamaica's tourism industry is the single fastest growing sector nationally, and one of the main contributors of economic growth and job creation.

Yello Media said that it is seeking to enhance the industry's remarkable performance by making its services more applicable to the needs of the sector, beginning with its new and improved mobile app.

The app, available to both iPhone and Android users, aims to become one of the most significant tools for tourists interested in exploring Jamaica and learning what the country has to offer, including the best restaurants and hot spots to visit.

In addition to the new mobile app, the company has introduced a suite of digital advertising solutions to help small and medium-sized businesses in the sector operate locally and compete globally.

According to Tshani Jaja, director of marketing for the Yello Media Group, speaking on the company's renewed focus on the tourism industry, Yello Media recognises the importance of the tourism industry as a main revenue earner for the local economy.

“Tourism is the largest industry in the Caribbean and Latin America and, given our years of operation in 20 countries within the region, we've developed an expert understanding of the industry's marketing requirements and visitors needs,” she said.

“With our solutions, such as the redesigned mobile app, and soon- -to-be revealed partnerships, we will be enhancing visitor experiences while also increasing the earnings of both small and large players in the industry locally,” she added.

In line with this new thrust, Yello Media has partnered with the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo), as a main sponsor of the 2018 Tourism Excellence Award, which takes place on March 18.

In 2015, Global Directories launched to dynamically connect visitors and locals with Caymanian businesses, products and services through innovative technology with special emphasis on user-generated content, video and a dedicated app.

In 2016, Global Directories re-launched as Yello Media Group — the Caribbean's full service advertising solutions partner, connecting communities, customers and consumers both online and offline. Yello Media Group is represented in over 18 markets in the Caribbean under the Yello brand, where it is regarded as the “go-to source” for local information.
