Dear Editor,

On Sunday evening I attended the football match between the Reggae Girlz and Panama at the National Stadium. The satisfactory result, as pleasing at it was, was not, for me, the most important takeaway from the game.

In 45 years of watching national football teams at the National Stadium, this team, the Reggae Girlz, was the best- drilled and most tactically disciplined team that I have ever seen — male or female.

In defending, the team held its shape in a well-disciplined manner. They pressed well and their attack was a thing of unbridled joy.

Khadija “Bunny” Shaw is one of the best number 9 strikers that the country has produced.

Additional work is needed on the fitness, but there is enough time before the start of the World Cup to get that right.

Congratulations to the Girlz and the coaching staff. They have all made us very proud.
