Dear Editor,

This is an open letter to Prime Minister Andrew Holness:

How do you fire the minister holding one of, if not the most important ministry, the Ministry of Education, without an explanation to the citizens of Jamaica?

By your actions, Sir, you are saying to the taxpayers and citizens of Jamaica, who pay your salary, that, as prime minister, you can do as you please and are not answerable to them.

How can you be trusted to run an entire country when you lack the decency to give valid information to those whom you so govern?

Quite frankly, you are proving to lack the very things that would make you a true leader.

I am not fazed by your youth, or youthful exuberance. I was once young too. But, unlike you, my youthfulness was not a moment to be arrogant and self serving, it was a moment to learn and apply those lessons on my canvas of life.

You, Sir, have been and a failure at what good, decent governance should look like, and may be out of your element.

The minute Minister Ruel Reid was fired you should have publicly addressed the citizens of Jamaica as to why his firing was warranted, and what led to you relieving him of his post.

I do not think I should have to explain to you the meaning of the word accountability, as common sense would dictate that as leader of almost three million people you would be well aware of the meaning, and would seek to apply it when necessary.

Your failure to publicly address this issue is speaking volumes about you, and is opening the doors to many questions and speculations.

This disrespect that you have shown to the citizens of Jamaica resonates strongly of arrogance, dishonesty, and rudeness on your part.

Jamaica deserves better, much better.
