Though he could not retain his title as champion of the World Fight Club (WFC) sound clash league, selector Jimmy Spliff is confident that it will not have negative implications on his career.

“Real fans don't worry about wins and losses. When you're at a certain level of the game, your fans stay no matter what. They show up at sound clashes to see you; it's not about whether you win or not. Once you give them that, then they're good. So this will definitely not affect my career,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

In the second round of the sound clash series held at Lodricka Hall in Queens, New York, last Friday, Jimmy Spliff from King Shine sound system was defeated by Supersonic Sound System from Germany.

The five-round clash saw Jimmy Spliff winning the first two portions, however, he was quickly overthrown by the Germans who took rounds three, four and five.

“It was just a mishap...it happens to the best of us. At one point I was one point away from winning and I just completely forgot about some dubplates I had,” Jimmy Spliff, whose given name is Randell Minott said.

World Fight Club (WFC) spearheaded by King Addies Promotion Team which has roots in east Kingston, hosted the inaugural leg of the series in March at Hall Next Door in Brooklyn, New York.

The defeated selector has several upcoming international events in the pipeline.

“I have a European tour in November. We'll be going to England, Switzerland and Amsterdam, and I also have a next sound clash in Antigua where I'll be facing Stone Wall [sound system]that are celebrating their 30th anniversary,” said Jimmy Spliff.

Started in 1995, King Shine has roots in the parish of St Thomas.
