Fifty -one years after he made the British charts with the risqué Wet Dream , Max Romeo remains popular in Europe. The 71-year-old roots singer kicks off a 10-show tour of France today in the city of Strasbourg.

Romeo is promoting a new album, Words From The Brave, which was released in June by French label, Baco Records. Most fans flock his shows to hear classics like Macabee Version, War In A Babylon, One Step Forward and I Chase The Devil.

The veteran artiste is among a flood of roots-reggae acts who made their names in Europe during the 1970s. His catalogue includes several albums for companies in that continent.

Max Romeo's French tour is scheduled to end November 6 in Rouen.
