Japan-based Mighty Crown sound system won the Sumfest Irish and Chin World Clash held at Pier One in Montego Bay on Thursday night.

The sound system made light work of Ricky Trooper, Tony Matterhorn, and Pink Panther.

Mighty Crown's Sami-T was elated at the victory.

“I came well prepared last night. I did my research and homework, so I knew exactly which songs to play. Matterhorn was good. He know how to bring in his songs, and I too know how to bring in my songs, but him just couldn't beat me,” Sami-T told the Jamaica Observer.

Playing in in front of a large audience, Mighty Crown made it to the final round with Tony Matterhorn.

At the end of the round Mighty Crown was declared the winner of the event, much to the approval of patrons.

Reggae Sumfest started on Sunday with a beach party held at Tropical Bliss. Last night was the first of the live shows at Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex in St James. The festival ends tonight with another live concert at the same venue.
