Boyz blank Antigua 2-0 to confirm CNL promotion, Gold Cup berth

LONG BAY, Antigua — Jamaica's Reggae Boyz blanked hosts Antigua and Barbuda 2-0 in their Group C Concacaf Nations League (CNL) B match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium here on Friday night.

Jamaica's opening goal was scored by Costa Rica-based Maalique Foster, who stabbed home from close up in the 34thminute.

In minute 58, Portmore United's Ricardo Morris rifled home with the left boot to make the game safe for Jamaica.

The victory catapulted the Boyz to 15 points and into an unassailable position as group winners, which earned the 45th-ranked Jamaicans promotion to CNL – A, and direct qualification to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Antigua, meantime, remain in third spot onsix points. Going into Friday night's contest Guyana were second, also on six points, while Aruba were rooted at the bottom of the standing without a point.

Jamaica, who have scored an impressive 20 goals without conceding in five matches, will bring the curtains down on their CNL campaign with a match against Guyana in Montego Bay on Monday.
