KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says Isaac has weakened to a tropical depression over the eastern Caribbean Sea, and is expected to produce an increase in rainfall across Jamaica this weekend.

At 4:00 am the centre of tropical depression Isaac was located about 610 kilometres southeast of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Met Service said the depression is moving toward the west near 24 km/h, and this general motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected over the next few days.

On the forecast track, Isaac will move over the eastern and central Caribbean Sea during the next few days.

Isaac's maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 55 km/h with higher gusts.

The depression is forecast to gradually weaken over the next few days, and could degenerate into a tropical wave at any time.
