Major reconstruction project commences on Constant Spring Road

ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Major rehabilitative works have commenced along Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.

According to the National Works Agency (NWA), the work which commenced yesterday will be confined to the verges of the roadway, in the early stages, and is not expected to directly impact traffic at this time.

The construction is currently in the vicinity of the Constant Spring Golf Club.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, said that four kilometres of the roadway, between Red Hills Road's intersection with Eastwood Park Road to Manor Park will be reconstructed over the next 14 months.

He said that among the benefits at the completion of the project will be the:

Shaw added that during the construction phase of the project the road will be kept open and the number of travel lanes that now exist will be maintained for the duration of the project, with traffic diversions from time to time.

He said that while there will be some inconveniences during the project, motorists can expect at the end of the project an improvement in travel time along the corridor and controlled intersections and concrete barriers which are expected to eliminate conflict points.
