1. 10 alleged gangsters arrested in Newland, Portmore

The St Catherine South Police say more than 10 men believed to be members of gangs operating in the Newlands community in Portmore, St Catherine have been taken into custody.

2. 16-year-o boy dies in accidental shooting

The police are reporting that a 16-year-old boy in Portmore, St Catherine died yesterday after he was accidentally shot.

3. Top five designs for new Parliament building selected

The top five designs selected in a competition for the construction of a new Parliament building were announced yesterday during an exhibition of the entries, held at the Jamaica Conference Centre, downtown Kingston.

4. Gov't to subsidise exam fees of secondary level PATH students

The Government of Jamaica will be providing full examination subsidies in some subject areas for secondary level students sitting exit examinations in 2019.

5. PNP calls for legal action against wrong doing at FLA

The People's National Party (PNP) is urging the police and the Director of Public Prosecutions to take action against those involved in “criminal wrong doings” at the Firearms Licensing Authority (FLA).

6. Teen charged with murder of grandfather

A teen who was taken into police custody on Sunday, following accusations that he killed his 72-year-old step-grandfather and buried him in a shallow grave has been slapped with a murder charge.

7. Manchester woman charged with murder of common law husband

The Manchester police are reporting that 51-year-old Miriam Jackson of Woodland district in the parish was on Monday charged with the murder of her common-law husband.

8. Demar Scott in St Elizabeth police custody for rape

Demar Scott, the man charged with rape of two guests at a hotel in Montego Bay last month, is now in the custody of the St Elizabeth police and is likely to be charged with rape and other crimes committed in Balaclava in 2012, police say.

9. Lotto jackpot hit for the second time in three weeks

Supreme Ventures Limited says the $35-million Lotto jackpot was hit yesterday, just three weeks after its last jackpot of $77 million was won.

10. Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in Peter Abraham's death, sentenced to 7 years

Norman Tomlinson has been sentenced to seven years in prison at hard labour as part of a plea deal for manslaughter in the death of noted former journalist Peter Abrahams, who was 97 years old.
