3. NWC investigating PNP candidate collecting money for water

The National Water Commission (NWC) says it has launched an investigation into a “community project” organised by People's National Party (PNP) candidate, Jennifer Housen, to have a resident in Mount Zion, Red Hills, St Andrew supply water from her main to other residents in the area.

4. Man hospitalised after alleged shootout with police

A man is currently in hospital under police guard following a reported confrontation with lawmen on Greenwich Park Road on Saturday.

5. Russia to sign visa deal with Jamaica

Russia is to sign a deal with Jamaica to extend visa-free stay for Russians in Jamaica from 30 t0 90 days.

According to a report on TASS Russian News Agency, a draft of the agreement to this effect was posted on the official website of legal information in that country last Tuesday.

6. Police Federation calls for liveable wage to be established

The Jamaica Police Federation (JPF) has described the latest offer on salaries from the Government of Jamaica for the contract period 2017 to 2019 as “disrespectful” and a “total disregard for the very hardworking rank and file members' sacrifice and service to the citizens of Jamaica.”

7. Immediate action needed to manage the country's waste disposal sites — PNP

The People's National Party (PNP) says immediate and urgent action must be taken to deal with the problem of uncontrolled burning at the country's dump sites.

8. 24 accused lottery scammers to face Westmoreland court in September

Twenty-four accused lottery scammers, including the alleged mastermind of the multi-million dollar network, are to answer to charges of breaches of the Law Reform Fraudulent Transactions Special Provisions Act, 2013 in September.

9. Holder achieves career-best in bowling, all-rounders charts

West Indies captain Jason Holder has shot to a career-best position in the ICC Test bowlers rankings and has broken into the top five on the all-rounders charts, for the first time ever.

10. Blatant nepotism and cronyism at Universal Service Fund, PNP says

The People's National Party (PNP) is crying “blatant nepotism” following admission that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Universal Service Fund (USF), Camille Buchanan, hired her daughter to the agency “without due regard for the standard procedure for employment in the government service.”
