ST JAMES, Jamaica — Police say a man has been arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, following a seizure on the Mount Pellier main road in St James on Wednesday.

In custody is 46-year-old Lloyd Parkins of Galloway district, Bethel Town in Westmoreland.

According to police reports, lawmen were conducting a vehicular check point operation in the area about 9:30 pm when Parkins was signalled to stop his vehicle.

After lawmen searched his Toyota Voxy motorcar, a.38 Taurus Revolver, with six .38 rounds of ammunition was discovered and subsequently seized.

Parkins is scheduled to appear before the Western Regional Gun Court on Tuesday.
