Producers stage private screening of Yardie in Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Executive producers of the film 'Yardie', which was filmed in Jamaica, will be hosting a private screening of the film tomorrow at 11:30 am at the Palace Cineplex, Sovereign Centre in St Andrew.

The film, which was based on a novel by Victor Headley and directed by British actor Idris Elba, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2018 and is now making its rounds on the international festival circuit.

The gangster movie is set in Jamaica in the 1970s and the London neighbourhood of Hackney in the 1980s, where Elba grew up as the only child of West African parents.
