KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says a high pressure ridge across Jamaica and the northern Caribbean will limit rainfall activity across the island this weekend.

Tonight should be fair, while it will be windy across southern coastal areas.
Tomorrow morning should be partly cloudy and hazy, while isolated showers and possible thundershowers across western parishes are expected tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Kirk has developed over the eastern Atlantic and is expected to move quickly west northwestward across the tropical Atlantic.

The Met Service said the center of the storm was located 690 km south of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands, at 4:00 pm .

Kirk is moving toward the west-northwest near 24 km/h, and a westward to west-northwestward motion at a similar forward speed is expected to continue through tonight.

Forecasters said a faster westward motion across the deep tropical Atlantic Ocean is expected Sunday through Tuesday.

Kirk's maximum sustained winds are near 65 km/h with higher gusts.

Some strengthening is forecast through Sunday, with little change in intensity expected on Monday and Tuesday, the Met Service reported.

Tropical Storm Kirk is not a threat to Jamaica.
