Weekly Round-up: Ruel Reid resigns… Former cricketer murdered… SOJ athletes cop 33 medals

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Education minister Ruel Reid on Wednesday resigned from the Cabinet and Senate on the request of Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who made the move following allegations of corruption at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information.

On the crime scene, former Jamaican fast bowler in the 1970's and early 1980's, William Haye, was shot dead by unknown assailants on Monday in the Four Paths area of Clarendon.

In sport, Jamaica copped 15 gold in its 33 medal haul at the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi, exceeding all previous performances by a Jamaica Special Olympics team. In addition to the gold medals the team earned 10 silver and eight bronze in the games, which ended on Thursday Watch as OBSERVER ONLINE wraps this week for you.
