Christ gone from our Christmas

Dear Editor,

I recently returned to my home community after working for three months in St Ann. Upon my arrival I was greeted with one of the scariest Christmas greetings one could receive — a fatal shooting.

My family and I was just driving in the community as my dad had to see a car “bodyman” about my cousin's car. Upon getting to the man's gate there was a large crowd of people, and it was there we were informed that the guy had just been run down and killed by gunmen.

This took place on Wednesday, December 19, 2018; yes, only just recently.

The incident shocked me immensely. I was moved to my core, and I wondered to myself: Is this what Christmas has turned into? No more celebration, no family, no love at Christmas?

Where has the Christ gone from our Christmas, because based on this we more than need him right now.
