MANDEVILLE, Manchester — A 16-year-old Porus High School student was remanded in custody when he made his first appearance in the Mandeville Children's Court on Thursday.

The boy is answering to a murder charge for the alleged stabbing death of his schoolmate Renardo Dixon, 17, with a pair of scissors on June 7, during an incident on the school compound.

Police said the two third formers inflicted wounds on each other during the altercation and were admitted to hospital, where Dixon succumbed to his injuries.

The other teenager was released into the custody of the police after receiving medical treatment. He is scheduled to return to court on June 26.
