Emerging star Ronald Levy (right) of the University of Technology Jamaica racing to victory in the 110-metre hurdles during the recent JN Racers Grand Prix at the National Stadium.

Levy, a past student of Rusea's High School and St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) clocked 13.17 seconds ahead of American Devon Allen (centre) in 13.28 seconds and Jamaican Olympic bronze medallist Hansle Parchment (13.34 seconds). The late-blooming Levy has battled back from a succession of injuries and disappointments.

Yesterday STETHS track coach Reynaldo Walcott, who along with veteran Eldemire Smith helped Levy to refine his hurdling skills while he was at STETHS, hailed the athlete as an example of discipline, dedication and perseverance. “He (Levy) just goes to show that if you listen and work hard, it can work for you,” said Walcott.
