LUCEA, Hanover — A 71-year-old butcher was shot dead at his home when gunmen went on a rampage in Lucea, Hanover, Wednesday night.

One of his family members was shot and injured in the incident.

Police have identified the butcher as Joel Malcolm, who was of a Malcolm Heights, Lucea address.

Meanwhile, his family member, a 63-year-old pensioner, has since been hospitalised.

Reports from the police are that shortly after 7:00 pm, Malcolm and other family members were at home watching television when they heard a barrage of explosions. Shortly after, gunmen forcibly entered their home and opened fire, hitting Malcolm and a woman.

The trigger-happy gunmen then went to a nearby house, which they set ablaze after spraying it with bullets.

The police theorise that the gunmen were in pursuit of the owner of the house which was set alight.

The Lucea police are investigating.
