Historic CHTA Caribbean Marketplace

The 2019 edition of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Caribbean Marketplace recorded a historic staging with the addition of 36 new buyers including a Chinese delegation, marking a first for the event.

The trade show, currently celebrating its 37th anniversary, was held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre from January 29 to 31.

The event saw 258 exhibitors from hotels, tour operators, airlines and other related businesses to the travel industry and tourist boards, showcasing the best of their offerings in Caribbean vacation travel.

Among the estimated 1,200 people in attendance daily were also buyers, journalists and tourism industry players.

The event afforded tourism suppliers the opportunity to meet face-to-face with different buyers from around the world, and industry players for networking opportunities.

The event is the Caribbean's largest and most important marketing event on the calendar delivers a major boost to Jamaica, and by extension the region's tourism industry. The selling floor was open for two days with active interactions, backed up by value-packed and engaging exchange sessions which focused on assisting businesses in revenue generation and discussions on relevant and efficient trends in the industry.
