ROSE HALL, St James — The JDF ex-Soldiers Association – Western Chapter, Montego Bay Branch Jamaica Legion, presents the Jamaica Military Band in Concert on Sunday, starting at 4:00 pm, at the Half Moon Conference Centre, Rose Hall, St James.

The event launches the annual National Poppy Appeal drive which seeks to raise funds to provide aid to the Jamaican ex-servicemen who fought in World War 11, and also those who have since served the military in Jamaica.

The Jamaica Legion is primarily responsible to provide for the basic needs of ex-servicemen who are now unable to physically and financially support themselves.

“The significant portion of our financial contribution goes to Curphey Home in South Manchester, the retirement home for ex-military personnel,” said fund-raising organiser, Sylvester Needham.

“Our support and welfare programmes also extend to other ex-servicemen, as we assist with their medical care, transportation and also provide financial assistance for funeral expenses, where necessary.
