HOLLAND, Trelawny — Defending champions Mt Alvernia High rebounded from their big loss to Holland High last week Monday in the ISSA Western Conference Girls basketball with a lopsided 48 points, win 57-9, over William Knibb Memorial in a rescheduled game at Holland, days later.

The win saw Mt Alvernia High retake the lead in the points table, moving to seven points from four games, one point more than second- placed Holland High who are perfect through three games, followed by Montego Bay High on five points, Muschett on four and William Knibb on two.

The teams combined for just six points in the first quarter as Mt Alvernia led 4-2, but they stepped on the gas from the second half to outscore William Knibb 53-7 over the next three quarters.

Mt Alvernia's Ashley Amore led all scorers with 17 points, while Abigail Wright and Chrisania Thorpe both scored eight points for the winners.
