Sky Dweller Ultra Lounge boasted serious star power Sunday last. Hollywood actor Michael Rainey Jr, who plays the role of Tariq St Patrick in the Starz hit, Power, joined a lounge filled with local fans for the second iteration of Sky Dweller's Power Viewing Party series.

Jamaicans' support of the 50 Cent-produced drama as an eye-opener for the 17-year-old actor. “I was surprised that so many people watch Power! I did not expect the love to be that crazy,” Rainey Jr enthused.

Sky Dweller General Manager Lesburn DaCosta noted that the viewing party series, which has been garnering positive reaction on social media platforms, was the brainchild of principal Michael Millwood, who had a desire to introduce a range of new entertainment attractions at the establishment. “It's a new facility and as the days go by we're trying new things,” DaCosta informed Friday Social. He further stated that Power was selected as the first television show to headline the weekly event series as it is a personal favourite of Millwood.

Sunday night's attendees gathered to watch two episodes of the show's fifth season: episode two (a repeat from the first viewing party), 'Damage Control' and three, 'Are We On The Same Team?'. Sky Dweller faithfuls, too, gathered for the opportunity to meet Rainey Jr, who was coincidentally on The Rock visiting family members in Kingston and Portland.

“We had no idea that this was going to happen,” said DaCosta. “We had the first staging that Sunday evening and, lo and behold, these guys heard about us! They called us to say that they wanted to be a part of this evening's event.”

Rainey Jr is excited to be back in Jamaica. “I love it! I haven't been here in 10 years, so it's good to be back.” He attended Sunday's viewing with family members and friends led by his mother and uncle.

Plate after plate from Sky Dweller's kitchen and sips from the well-stocked bar delighted the mainly millennial audience in attendance. Sunday's full house, according to DaCosta, is an improvement on a “more than average” turnout from the previous week. He attributed the increase in numbers to Rainey Jr's presence.

After the credits rolled, Rainey Jr delighted his fans by participating in a meet-and-greet. Friday Social has the highlights.
