Dear Claudienne,

In December 2017, I visited Jamaica and went to the Revenue Agency to pay taxes on my property. The clerk advised me that the name reflected on the computer differed from mine.

After visiting the National Land Agency (NLA) Mandeville office on December 5 and 7, 2017 I was promised that the error would take two months to be corrected.

At the time I am sending you this e-mail, March 3, 2018 three months later, it has still not been processed.

Now I have a sale pending and need to have the name on my title name corrected urgently.

Can you assist?

Dear CW

As this was a property tax issue Tell Claudienne contacted the Tax Agency of Jamaica (TAJ) in regard to your problem. The TAJ informed the National Land Agency (NLA) of your concerns and asked the Director/Commissioner, Land Valuation to correct the error.

The NLA e-mail informed Tell Claudienne on June 29, 2018 that the error has been corrected.

The e-mail from the NLA stated:

“The information on the Valuation Roll was previously updated (kindly see attached). Same can be queried from TAJ's website“

Tell Claudienne visited the website and obtained the following information from it:

“This Property Tax Online Query facility allows you to view your property tax obligations, payments and outstanding amounts over seven years. After viewing, you may proceed to make payments by logging on to the Jamaica Tax Portal at
