Taking a break in transmission for the Yuletide, the nation's Parliament is yet to reconvene to tackle the country's affairs. Columnists Lance Neita says these days the sessions are not missed. He reminisces of a time when debate in the House was robust and witty — even with lengthy speeches. Nowadays, the sittings drone on with a succession of boring, scripted presentations with the absence of the rough and tumble and repartee of past members like Alexander Bustamante and Rose Leon. Neita harks back to a comment by fearless, late journalist Morris Cargill when he called Michael Manley a windbag, and now risks public opprobrium — as suffered Cargill — by concluding that these days all that's happening in Gordon House is just that — hot air.
