Last week Wednesday the French Ambassador to Jamaica Jean-Michel Despax and his wife Line celebrated Goût de France with over 100 patrons — members of the diplomatic corps, socialites, philanthropists and lovers of French fare — at their well-appointed residence. Flown in for the affair was Executive Chef Matthieu Jolly, owner of L'Ajoupa2Gros in Martinique, who was ably assisted by some of Jamaica's most talented culinary stars notably Oji Jaja, chef/patron Ashebre; Cornelia Charley-Beecher, resident chef at the French Embassy; Courtney Virgo, executive chef at Evence; and multi-award-winning caterer Celeste Gordon.

The six-course meal paired with French wines and Champagne found favour with all. Thursday Food followed those who opened their napkins for a worthy cause — the construction of a playground for The School Of The Deaf.
