On The Blue Mountain Culinary Trail

Coffee lovers had a delightful menu of eateries to choose from as they participated in the inaugural staging of the Blue Mountain Coffee Festival, Blue Mountain Culinary Trail, last Sunday.

Lush mountains blanketed by fog provided the perfect backdrop for families, friends and associates to enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Crystal Edge Restaurant and a wide array of coffee and coffee-based offerings at the Café Blue in Irish Town on Sunday morning. These early-morning diners were just a few who turned up to sample the final day of the Ministry of Tourism-endorsed weekend of events.

Thursday Food continued up the mountain to Strawberry Hill Hotel & Spa later, where many, along with Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett, enjoyed Sunday brunch. The ambience, made even more inviting by the soothing sounds of Rupert Bent's guitar, was ocasionally punctuated by the happy chatter of diners, seated at large round tables covered in white and the trademark Strawberry Hill Moroccan-print fabric.

There was much to enjoy — the majority of which was coffee-based. A delighted Bartlett applauded the participants for supporting the fledgling event amidst sharing his visions for coffee adding value to the tourism product.

Our final stop took us to Belcour Lodge where not even the downpour could put a damper on the afternoon's proceedings. Hostess Robin Lumsden's culinary offerings from her Belcour cookbook tantalised the palates.

Stakeholders have much to be proud of, as the weekend left tastebuds tingling and gave many locals an opportunity to enjoy and celebrate authentic Blue Mountain Coffee and discover those worth-several-visits off-the-beaten track eateries.
