The immediately visible signage at Sharkies — 'We guarantee fast service... no matter how long it takes' and 'Hurricane Evacuation Plan ... Grab a beer and run like hell' — set the tone for a playful and laid-back atmosphere. Check your ego at the door and enjoy the moment. We were game as we made our way to our table on its own deck, with a perfect view of the sea, mere steps away. The overall décor — beach-rustic with overhead woven lanterns — added a slightly elevated touch to the atmosphere.

What's great about dining in a large group is the ability to order several items and then taste from each plate. This our judges have down pat. Various menu options included appetisers of salt fish, calamari and conch fritters, pepper shrimps and chicken spring rolls, and mains of roast garlic/curried conch, brown stewed fish, beer battered shrimps, curried shrimps and fish and chips.

With a final stop to make in Ochi we forced ourselves up, some two-plus hours later, to meet and congratulate the staff.

If you are looking for a chill spot we recommend Sharkies.
